  1.                     KERATOMETER MEASURING TECHNIQUE

  3. Placing Patient in Instrument
  4.  
  5. Prior to putting the patient in the headrest 
  6. of the instrument the chin and head rests 
  7. should be wiped with an alcohol swab or a 
  8. tissue placed on the chin rest.
  9.  
  10. The patient should be seated comfortably 
  11. and the instrument adjusted to the height 
  12. of the patient.  The patient is asked to rest 
  13. their chin in the chin rest and to bring their 
  14. forehead tight against the headrest.  A 
  15. common mistake is for the patient to be 
  16. too low (instrument too high) and for the 
  17. patient's forehead to be away from the 
  18. headrest.

  20. The patient should be asked to grasp the 
  21. instrument just in front of the chinrest so 
  22. that they will stay as still as possible 
  23. during the measurement.
